Wetumpka's Battle of the Brushes - Contestant Guildines Summary

Registration & Eligibility:

Register at wetumpkasbattleofthebrushes.com by April 15, 2025. Registration fee: $35.
Open to U.S. citizens aged 16+. Contestants aged 16-17 need written guardian permission.
Limited to 50 contestants; spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiting list may apply.
Confirmation emails will be sent to registered contestants.

Event Details:

Date: May 10, 2025
Each contestant will receive a 16x20 canvas and a designated 8 ft. x 6 ft. space with a chair and table.
Contestants must bring their own easels, paints, brushes, and tools (rulers, masking tape, portable lights, or stools allowed).
Prohibited items: stencils, tracing, projection equipment, volatile chemicals, aerosols, and airbrush paints.
Paintings must adhere to family-friendly themes (no adult, political, or inappropriate content).

Competition Format:

One of five themes will be randomly selected at the start of the competition:
- Nooks and Crannies
- Lighting the Way
- Decay/Rusty/Grungy
- Through a Window, or
- Portals and Pathways.
Contestants will have 4 hours to complete their work.
Canvases must remain in assigned spaces, and only the contestant may work on their piece.
At the end of the event, submit your artwork and artist statement (explaining the purpose and process behind the painting) for judging. No signatures allowed for “blind” judging.

Judging & Prizes:

Judging occurs after the contest; winners of $500 or more must complete a W-9 form to receive payment.
Artwork and statements must be submitted within 5 minutes after time is called.

Additional Opportunities:

Each contestant may sell up to two pieces of completed artwork (max size 16x20) onsite. Sunshine and Pixie Dust LLC will handle sales, collect 10% commission, and mail payments post-event.

Withdrawals & Refunds:

Withdrawal requests must be emailed to wetumpkasbattleofthebrushes@gmail.com. Refunds are not guaranteed.

- 1st Place: $1,000.00
- 2nd Place: $500.00
- 3rd Place: $250.00
- Honorable Mention: $50.00
- Honorable Mention: $50.00
Viewer’s Choice Award from visiting public
- Viewer’s Choice: $250.00
All photo of each entry will be placed online by Sunshine and Pixie Dust for an online vote and award to the winner at a later date.
